Word of Mouth Newsletter - May 2026

Hello, friends!  We're excited to see real progress at the federal and state levels on language access and disability rights, advancements that reflect a deeper recognition of the communities at the heart of our mission.  Federally, the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights will be releasing a report on language access gaps, the Language Access for All Act of 2026 has been introduced to order translation and interpretation requirements into law, and the newly signed SPEAK Act is paving the way for language services to become a standard in telehealth by 2027.

Locally, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro has signed three executive orders strengthening protections for people with disabilities, including a new state commission to elevate their voice in shaping policy which we’re thrilled to see as a disability-owned company.  We're also proud to be doing our part, having completed nearly 150 interpretation assignments for limited English-proficient students across Western and Central PA during PSSA state testing.   These developments support what we've always believed: that equitable access to language services and disability accommodations isn't just good practice, it’s a civil right that we all deserve. We're proud to be part of the work that’s making this a reality.  As always, thanks for being here, and Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing moms out there.

With love,

Mary Jayne
