Client Spotlight: We Are All Related
As a counter to the divisiveness currently exploding in our world, our nation, and even in our city, this is We Are All Related--photographer Andrea London's passionate visualization of heartstrong humanity.
The exhibition includes black & white studio portraits plus compelling text, audio and video narratives in the portrait subjects' native languages and translated to English. This immersive experience, at The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust's 937 Gallery downtown, is free and open to the public.
Also, a public art installation, designed to expand the visibility of We Are All Related, will be seen at the corner of Penn and Centre Avenues in East Liberty beginning on March 22. This installation includes large-scale vinyl-printed portraits and the words "We Are All Related" translated in the 17 languages represented by the portrait subjects.
These two exhibits open on March 22 and continue through May 12. An extended book is available to complement the exhibitions.

“I translate because I am an immigrant. I write and think and dream in a language distant from my origins, but a language that has become a home.”
“The denial of medical attention to migrants in U.S. custody is a widespread and systemic problem, and one that appears to affect Indigenous language speakers disproportionately.” https://www.languagemagazine.com/2019/01/22/indigenous-migrants-denied-linguistic-access/
#IYIL2019 There are many Indigenous cultures in Australia, made up of people from a rich diversity of tribal groups which each speak their own languages and have a variety of cultural beliefs and traditions. Many Australians are unaware of this cultural and linguistic diversity, and often believe that there is simply one Aboriginal culture and language. https://www.anps.org.au/upload/Indigenous_Australian_Languages_Fact_Sheet.pdf
