Word of Mouth Newsletter - October 2026

Hello, friends.
Since we lowered our translation rates, we've been hearing from clients about what it's made possible. Some are translating more of their materials, reaching more of the people they serve, and expanding their language access in ways they couldn’t before.
That's exactly why we made the change. Quality language services shouldn't be out of reach for the schools, organizations, an
d businesses that need them. By optimizing internal operations while keeping our professional linguists at the center of every project, we've been able to make our services more affordable without compromising on quality.
Now we'd love your help reaching more organizations and departments like yours. If you've worked with us and had a great experience, we'd be so grateful if you would consider introducing us to a colleague, partner, or organization that could use translation or interpretation support both in PA and beyond. Your referral helps more teams get high-quality language services at a price that works.
Feel free to either direct them to our website or pass their info along to our Senior Director of Sales, Meredith Getachew at Meredith@globalwordsmiths.com, and she’ll reach out.
As always, thank you for being part of our community and for all your support. We couldn't do this important work without you!
With love,
Mary Jayne

Conference Support

We just wrapped up an exciting few days in Central PA sponsoring and attending the Refugee Education Summit, collaborating with service providers shaping the future for refugee students. A few key takeaways include:
Interpretation quality shapes IEP outcomes. Schools want practical tools to avoid common pitfalls when working with interpreters for LEP families.
Cultural competency matters as much as language skill. Supporting refugee and multilingual families well means understanding cultural context and using trauma-informed approaches.
PA's English Learner Initiative is building momentum, giving schools a structured, Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) with practical tools schools and interpreters can put into action right away.
Cross-sector collaboration is driving real impact, from educators to interpreters to organizations like Switchboard.
Our network is growing, too. We connected with several individuals across the Central PA region interested in becoming formal interpreters, speaking Dari/Pashto/Urdu, Nepali, Somali/Maay, and Swahili.
California, Here We Come!

We’ll be sponsoring and attending our third Camden Coalition: Putting Care at the Center conference Oct 14-16. The three-day conference will give attendees the opportunity to learn from peers, exchange ideas across sectors, and connect with others working to improve care for people with complex health and social needs. Our Senior Director of Sales, Meredith Getachew, will be moderating the panel, Navigating AI, Health Equity, and Language Access for LEP Patients in Complex Care. Key insights from the conference and panel will be included in our next newsletter!
Social Impact
In honor of Disability Employment Awareness Month (#DEAM), Mary Jayne will be joining Disability:IN and fellow certified DOBEs to discuss the realities of building and growing a business. Learn more about the event here if you’d like to follow along!

Resources for Interpreters
Introducing Our New Linguist Platform!
Thanks to our talented, in-house DevOps Engineer, we’ve developed and launched our own Linguist Platform to make it easy for our professional team of linguists to keep all their documents such as clearances and certificates organized and up to date! For interpreters still interested in joining, contact the support team at support@globalwordsmiths.com and one of our vendor managers will set you up!
9th Annual AHN Immigrant & Refugee Health Conference!
Join the Allegheny Health Network Center for Inclusion Health on Tuesday, October 27 for Navigating New Paths: Collaborative Strategies for Immigrant and Refugee Patient Care.
This year’s conference will feature presentations and discussions on refugee and newcomer health, trauma-responsive care, community-based health programs, liver health in Latino communities, and strategies for improving access to care. The registration deadline is October 16.
New Training for Interpreters!
Save the Date for the Upcoming Training: "Interpreting for Gender and Sexual Diverse Communities" will be held virtually on November 12, 2026, from 5:00-7:00 PM EST. Members of the LGBTQ community who need interpretation services often have multiple layers of marginalized identities. As a result, it is of utmost importance for interpreting professionals to take a culturally competent, trauma-informed approach when serving this population. This workshop was fully developed by our team and will be presented by Interpretation Vendor Manager, Adriana Sánchez Solís, and is open to all Global Wordsmiths' interpreters.
