Word of Mouth - December 2018

December 2018

Announcements:

SheEO Semifinalist! SheEO is a radically redesigned ecosystem that supports, finances, and celebrates female innovators. The model brings together 500 women (called Activators) in each year’s cohort, who contribute $1100 each as an Act of Radical Generosity. The money is pooled together and loaned out at zero percent interest to five women-led Ventures selected by the Activators. Global Wordsmiths has been selected as a semifinalist for the chance to compete for this capital. Wish us luck, and thank you for your steadfast support!

Pitchwerks Podcast #109 - Listen to Mary Jayne talk about Global Wordsmith’s mission, Social Entrepreneurship, Language Accessibility, and more. Big thanks to Scot MacTaggart and the Epicast team for the opportunity.

Global Pittsburgh Immigrant Champion Award Finalist. Forty entrepreneurs and professionals from twenty-seven countries around the world have been nominated for awards in seven categories, and we are proud this month that our founder and director, Mary Jayne McCullough has been nominated in the Immigrant Champion category. Client Spotlight: ACHIEVA

ACHIEVA is a nonprofit parent organization that has comprehensive services and supports and serves thousands of individuals with disabilities and their families each year. ACHIEVA was founded in 1951 by a group of family members who all desired the same thing, to ensure their children with disabilities had the same chances in life that all children should be given. Their commitment helped to establish a nationwide movement that changed the long history of isolation and segregation for both children and adults with disabilities. ACHIEVA is the only agency of its type in southwestern Pennsylvania that provides lifelong supports. From early intervention therapies, in-home support, to older adult protective services for medically fragile senior citizens, ACHIEVA provides services through the entire life-span.
